This WWYD? was crazy
They had kids destroying a car….first the white group. They got like 2 confrontations and 1 call to 911 and lots of ppl who just walked by.
What shocked the producers and actors however was while the white actors were destroying the car there were 2 additional calls to 911 but not reporting the “vandals” it was reporting 3 black guys in a car looking like they may rob someone. In actuality these were family members of one of the black actors who was set to do the experiment next. And get this…they were ASLEEP in the car!!! So 3 sleeping black men got double the calls to 911 than 3 white kids destroying a car.
Then its the black actors turn. They immediately get 911 calls (10 total) and several confrontations!! One woman even said something to the effect of “they come right here in our back yards”
The psychologist they brought in for the episode sais the backyard comment shows how the black actors are automatically seen as outsiders. And also (referring to the 911 calls on the sleeping family) said that in America its automatic to see black people as more dangerous or up to something. There’s an expectation of wrongdoing that has been socialized. This assumption is made by white and black people.
